Corporate cards

Corporate Cards are used as a mechanism for payment and can be useful for staff who are frequently responsible for purchasing or who are often travelling. Find out more.

The use of corporate cards is governed by the Financial Management Act 2016 and Treasurers Instruction FC-9, as well as the department’s corporate card policy and Fringe Benefits Tax Policy (including guidelines for entertainment expenses).

It is Government policy for payments below $1,000 to be made by Corporate Card.

Corporate cards must not be used for hospitality or entertainment purposes unless specific permission has been granted by the Treasurer for a card holder. Please refer to the Fringe Benefits Tax Policy (including guidelines for entertainment expenses) for information on what constitutes an entertainment expense. If a corporate card is used to pay for an entertainment expense, please complete the Entertainment declaration form and scan it together with your tax invoices and supporting documentation into Finance when you process and submit your card transactions for approval.

For a list of other purchases that the corporate card can and cannot be used for, please read the Corporate Card Policy.

Cardholders will be sent an email when they have transactions to process in Finance at the beginning of every month. Cardholders will be required to provide an account number and narration for each transaction and attach a copy of the tax invoice/receipt. For more information about how to cost a transaction, see Chart of Accounts.

If you would like to apply for a corporate card, please complete the Corporate Card application form, obtain approval from your Branch manager, and email it to finance@stategrowth.tas.gov.au.
