Protective Security

The department is committed to the safety, security and well-being of our people, information, and assets.

What is protective security?

Protective security means taking measures to safeguard our people, information, and assets from threats.

Tasmania and its community rely on these assets. So, it’s up to the government, its agencies, and the public to keep them secure.

Security is complex and always changing. This makes us more vulnerable to threats, like information loss, unauthorised access to buildings, and harm to systems or staff. We need a clear and consistent approach to security across all government levels.

The Tasmania Protective Security Policy Framework (TAS-PSPF) aims to set minimum security standards. All government agencies, including State Growth, must follow them. Agencies are required to report on their security practices annually.

State Growth includes protective security in its business practices. It does this through risk management and a commitment to continuous improvement. We aim to educate staff on the risks and the costs of non-compliance. We aim to improve our security culture and skills. This will help us mature and reduce key vulnerabilities over time.

Our approach to protective security is outlined in the Protective Security Policy and the Protective Security Framework.

Our State Growth Protective Security Overview provides an overview of our approach to protective security.
