Major Renewable Energy Projects

Stewart Sharples

Director, Major Renewable Energy Projects

The Major Renewable Energy Projects team has responsibility for the government’s involvement in key energy projects including Marinus Link, the North West Transmission Development and the redevelopment of the Tarraleah power station. It also provides a case management role for project proponents seeking to develop new renewable generation in the state, both wind and solar, and is progressing a set of policy initiatives to prepare for the expected growth in the sector as the state builds towards its 200 per cent renewable energy target.

Our team works with stakeholders in the state-owned energy businesses, the Australian and Victorian Governments, and Councils in areas of the state with strong renewable potential. We also regularly spend time on the ground in the north west of the state as we progress the government’s aims for a first Tasmanian Renewable Energy Zone in that region.
