We are committed to creating a positive and respectful work environment including one that enables workers to resolve concerns, conflicts and misunderstandings that arise during their employment or engagement.
Options to resolve workplace behaviour issues
Our Resolving Workplace Behaviour Issues Policy and Procedure outlines the options available to work towards effective resolution of workplace behaviour issues or concerns in a timely and constructive way that fosters and maintains respectful and positive working relationships.
Experiencing unacceptable or inappropriate workplace behaviour
You are encouraged to raise any concerns and seek assistance if you are worried about any behaviour that may impact a safe and positive work environment. Anyone that experiences or observes unacceptable or inappropriate behaviour will be supported in taking appropriate action.
You are encouraged to attempt to manage and/or resolve issues informally in the first instance, where it is safe and reasonable to do so. All options available to you are outlined in the Resolving Workplace Issues Policy and Procedure and the option taken depends on a number of factors including the work environment, people involved, your confidence in dealing with the situation, the seriousness of the behaviour and your safety.
Reports of a serious or complex nature may require an investigation to look into the circumstances of the matter, determine what has occurred and inform what action is needed. This may also include where the parties have been unable or unwilling to resolve the matter. Further information is available in the Investigating serious or complex issues fact sheet.
.
Reporting inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour
If you have been unable to resolve the matter or it’s of a more serious nature, you can submit a written report in one of the following ways:
- Send an email to the A/Director, People and Culture outlining the facts of the situation and desired remedy or outcome.
- Complete a Notification of unacceptable or inappropriate behaviour template and email to the Director, People and Culture.
- Complete an unacceptable behaviour report.
General grievance or complaint process
If you have a general grievance or complaint relating to:
- Terms and conditions of employment
- Unfavourable treatment
- Management decisions, actions or inaction
You are encouraged to resolve the grievance informally where possible in the first instance. Where this is not possible or the matter is of a more serious nature, you can follow the pathway outlined in the Investigating serious or complex issues fact sheet.
