Managing risks

The Working On or Near Roadways Policy promotes collaboration between managers and employees to identify potential hazards and risks related to the work being undertaken as well as legislative requirements around the types of controls that should and can be implemented or what controls may need to be outsourced.

The type of work on or near roadways vary greatly across the department including the types of risks and hazards workers may be exposed to. A guide has been developed to support the policy which includes practical suggestions on how to manage risks.

People and Culture, State Roads and Austroads are developing further resources and tools for those who occasionally work on or near roadways. These will be available here when they have been developed.
